| Context: | This unit was focused on broadening students’ knowledge about Christopher Columbus and his explorations. Students worked with a text which was a historical recount describing15th century travel. It included rich descriptions and information. The text's style was informal and included illustrations greatly supporting the content. In the reception phase of the unit, students observed the characteristics of the text and analyzed the language structures used by the author. In the production phase, they created their own recounts describing life on the ship illustrating with their drawings. |
