Context: The aim of this unit was to develop the ability to write procedural texts such as cooking recipes. Students worked on recognizing various text features such as giving instructions or sequencing. They were encouraged to utilize reading strategies by using context clues and pictures to support understanding. In the production part, students were introduced to the idea of process writing and using graphic organizers. Through the variety of activities, they produced their own recipes according to some evaluative criteria they co-created.
