Context: | The aim of the unit was to develop skills in writing letters using both formal and informal registers. Students read letters of various kinds and analyzed both text features and the language needed to express various functions such as emotive language, giving advice, and asking for advice. In the production phase of the unit, students were asked to write their own letters both informal and formal. This unit could be combined with any content area, where students could be asked to compose the letters in support of some important cause. |
