Context: | The aim of the unit was to develop students’ skills in the ability to describe animals. Students were acquainted with the topic through various non-fiction readings about various dog breeds and their origins. Students were exposed to some geographical and biological information and observed some text features of non-fiction texts. In the production part of the unit, students focused on the characteristics of good description and the appropriate language needed to produce animal descriptions. This unit created for third grade students was also implemented in fifth grade and second grade. |
